NURSERY SCHOOL

There is NO free Nursery Education (or any other) in Kenya.

In January 2007, Abundance Ministries in Kenya launched their own "Abundance Nursery School". This School is established to provide an essential foundation for very young children, and a 'Sure Start' in life.

The School has three classes, "Baby class", "Nursery" and "Pre-School Unit" and is headed by our General Manager and Senior Pastor - Caroline Akinyi. Caroline is assisted by four dedicated Teachers' selected on potential and aptitude: Rhoda (Head Teacher),
Dorothy, Melvyne, and Classroom Assistant Robert. The school has 60 children with a capacity for 75 children aged 4 to 7 years. There are currently 19 Orphans who are sponsored, but many more orphaned children are waiting for sponsors and are excluded from school until they are found.

Caroline obtained her Teacher's Training College (TTC) Early Child Development (ECD) Qualification from the 'Early Child Development' Course at the Migori Teacher Training College. She is now on her TTC/ECD Diploma Course, whilst Rhoda is on her TTC/ECD Certificate course. The other Teachers will follow in due course.

At present; salaries, teaching materials and College costs are paid from the General Fund - which puts a strain on our finances. Thus, we seek Sponsors to assist with the costs of training teachers. You would touch the lives of many young children and give them a start in life, by assisting in this way

The Nursery School meets in temporary accommodation at present but we are looking to construct our own permanent building with four classrooms, offices, kitchen, etc, subject to finances being available (C. £15,000=). Plans have been completed by a Kenyan architect.
