NURSERY
SCHOOL
There
is NO free Nursery Education (or any other) in Kenya.
In January 2007, Abundance Ministries in Kenya transferred their
"Abundance Nursery School Bungoma". This School is established
to provide an essential foundation for very young children, and
a 'Sure Start' in life.
The School to Bungoma has three sections, "Baby class", "Nursery"
and "Pre-School Unit" and is headed by our General
Manager, Senior Pastor Caroline Akinyi. Caroline is assisted by
four dedicated Teachers' selected for potential and aptitude: The
school has 98 children against a capacity for 75 children
aged 3 to 6 years. There are currently 17 Orphans who are
sponsored, but many more orphaned children are waiting for sponsors
and are excluded from school until sponsors are found.
As a Policy, we do not recruit already-qualified teachers but identify those with potential, train them ‘on-the-job’ and pay for them to attend Teachers Training College. This Policy has proven very successful and was how Caroline came up to her very senior position.
Caroline obtained her Teacher's Training College (TTC) Early Child
Development (ECD) Diploma with Distinction from the Migori Teachers Training College (TTC). Assistant Manager Gaudenzia Ayuma is in her final year of her ECD Diploma in Kakamega TTC in 2011, and two teachers are in training on their ECD Certificate Course In the Bungoma TTC in 2011.
At present; salaries, teaching materials and College costs are paid
from the General Fund - which puts a strain on our finances. Thus,
we seek Sponsors to assist with the costs of training teachers.
You would touch the lives of many young children and give them a
start in life, by assisting in this way
The Nursery School meets in a large rented house at present but
we are looking to construct our own permanent building with four
classrooms, offices, kitchen, etc, subject to finances being available
(C. £30,000=). Plans have been completed by a Kenyan architect.
