ROPHEKA HEALTH-CARE PROJECT

The biggest killer diseases in Kenya are (in order of severity):  AIDS, Malaria, Typhoid, Tetanus, Kwashiorkor in small children, Malnutrition, Still births, Death in child-birth, etc. 700 people DIE every day from AIDS*, leaving 1,340 newly-orphaned children every day. But the biggest killer diseases in Kenya are ignorance and poverty.

*in truth, no-one ever dies of AIDS; they die from sicknesses/diseases against which they have no immunity.

There is NO free Health-Care Service in Kenya, not even for babies or older people.   You either have money or you suffer and maybe DIE.    Many are turned away from hospitals just because they have NO MONEY, and they go home to die.   IF a person is admitted to hospital, they are kept ‘prisoner’ until their bill is paid – which could be for many weeks or even months;   meanwhile the bills escalate daily.   Many stories could be told.

Doctors’ surgeries and clinics are run as businesses and they charge for consultations, medicines, dressings, injections, etc.   The quality of treatments varies widely.

Abundance Ministries International has a VISION for a Health-Care Centre in Bungoma for the benefit of destitute Orphans, Deserted children and Widows – of whom there are many.   It will be under the operating name of ROPHEKA* Health-Care Project and employ carefully-vetted qualified staff.   (* ‘Healer’, from Exodus 15:26).

‘Ropheka Health-Care’ will provide FREE medical treatments and subsidise or pay for hospital bills. The Vision is to construct our own purpose-built Centre – at a cost of about £30,000=.

‘SAVE-a-LIFE’ CAMPAIGN:

The second-biggest killer disease in Kenya, next to AIDS, is MALARIA that is caused by a ‘bite’ (actually an injection) by the female Malarial Mosquito that attacks people at night. Symptoms of having been infected with the malaria virus are: severe fever, alternating sweating–shivering, nausea – particularly at the taste of food, general malaise and weakness in the body.   The incubation period is up to 7 days and if not treated will possibly result in DEATH.

Preventive medicine is too expensive for the vast majority of Kenyans, especially orphans and young children.   The ONLY reliable prevention is to drape a Mosquito Net over the bed  -  being careful to ensure that it has no holes and is well tucked-in.

Mosquito Nets cost only £3:50p each.   Yet the average Kenyan, and especially destitute Orphans, Deserted children and Widows cannot afford them.   Abundance Ministries’ ‘Save-a-Life’ Campaign provides Mosquito Nets to needy people who cannot afford them. Every Orphan in Abundance Orphans-Care Centre and Abundance Nursery School has a Mosquito Net;  also, many carers and close relatives have them.   But many, many more are needed.   10,000 more Mosquito Nets would not be enough to supply to all who need them.
